Wudang Sword 2

0544Wudang Sword techniques are very demanding as high physical performance abilities have to be combined with a solid core stability to make it look easy. This is the main point of Wudang Sword playing. To make this ‘easy look’, you need to attain perfect balance skills and muscle tone controls. Beauty and grace are the outcomes of a certain amount of long time workout no matter you are born strong, or weak, or long, or short phsically. Another point that you have to pay attention is choosing the right sword for yourself. If you are a long person and the sword you use is short or light, there will be no balance in your movements and no grace in your performance, and vice versa. As a pair of shoes can make you walk gracefully or can make you walk sluggish, the same happens with an unappropriate sword.
As you practise a certain time with the sword, some strange magnetic field is created with the swirling turns. That feeling is vey nice to experience and also very sooting for a few seconds because that magnetic field takes away the methalic weight burden for that monent. This allows you to take some physical rest intervals for a few seconds. The Wudang Sword style workouts require constant physical tension on the limbs. If you cannot acquire the ability to lighten this burden, your limbs get burned out and the performance does not look beautiful. This is the way to make it look easy of what you are actualy doing with a high phsical conditioning and skills achieved by a constant long time practise. This is actually the real meaning of kungfu. The term kungfu is ‘ an ability acquired with a long term hard work and dedication’ ! ..

WUDANG SWORD

DSCN1054Jianfukungfu means 3 words: jian means sword
Fu means tiger
Kungfu means a skill or an art obtained by a hard work of a lomg time discipled practices

Wudang kungfu is an internal art. It is based on Taoist health preserving way of living. It is believed that there is chi energy in human body that makes the difference between a living body and a dead body. It is ultimate when we are infants. Gets week and obliterated as we age. It is also effected by an unhealty way of living, by stress and lack of mobility. Chinese have discovered that by a certain way of motions this chi can be gathered, generated and is made able to flow easily in the channels all around the body. Hands and feet and torso coordinated in a well determined motion sequence. And in some unknown fashion you become able to collect the chi from air by inhalation and coordinated movements at the same time. Then you may even learn how to play with that chi, how to send it to the point of the body that you wish or gather at dantien to use it to have power.
As I intended to write a series of Wudang Sword here, I noticed that this ‘internal’ notion had to be mentioned. ‘Wudang sword arts’ is both philosophical and physical. It represents a war against one’s ego. You cannot destroy your ego. It is the main part of our human existence here on earth. But you can learn how to overcome its dominance on your life. It is nice to have this intention and try to handle it with your will power but mostly it turns out worse. Only intention and only will power is not able to manage this. You have to do somethimg. I mean actually ‘do’ something. And this is best described by the term kungfu. And it can also be achieved by kungfu. It is a system of doing things that melts the conflicts of your body and mind so that the ego becomes uneffective by itself, although it is still very present somewhere out there!
100 days of bare hand
1000 days of spear
10000 days os sword
This gamous Chinese quote summarizes what I am trying to tell actually. Sword arts is special in kungfu because it is mastered not only by physical perfection. It demamds a spiritual metamorphosis. And this comes by a long enough time practice full of awareness that the final aim is that transformation to become a better person.
Will go on soon.. until then take care.
